1981 Factory Built, Fuel Injected TR8 dhc presented in exceptional condition. One of the last and rarest TR8's to be produced, this is a factory built 1981 fuel injected model complete with an original factory RHD power steering rack - not an aftermarket conversion or non-power steering car. Triumph produced just 2, 722 TR8's with approx.2, 000 of these being the convertible version. TR7 V8's were produced in 1977, TR8 coupes in 1978 and 1979, and TR8 convertibles from 1979 to 1981. Most of these had the carburetor version of the Rover 3.5 litre V8 engine. TR8 convertibles fitted with the Lucas Fuel Injection numbered less than 500 and were only produced during 1981. Apart from a handful of pre-production examples, all TR8's were LHD. This particular car was originally imported from the US and converted to RHD in 1990 utilising a factory RHD power steering rack.This is an important and valuable component providing not only the steering feel and directness that was intended for these cars, but also adds to the originality factor. Most LH to RH conversions of TR8's use a power steering rack from an alternative vehicle, and lately the BMW rack seems popular, but it is just not the same as the factory rack or what Triumph engineers intended. Over the following 25 years, the car has been maintained in exceptional condition, with periodic upgrades and reconditioning work along the way. Beautifully presented in the original factory colour of Argent Silver with immaculate dark blue mohair soft top, and dark blue interior - new tartan door trims, top quality perforated leather seats, and new dark blue carpets recently installed. This classic Triumph is one of the very few classics of the era that has Air Conditioning which means cool summer motoring whatever the outside temperature.
